For October this year we will be heading out to the coal mining towns of Northeastern PA. The tours we take this time offer little in the way of sugar coating how hard life was for the miner’s. We’ll start off touring the #9 Coal Mine & museum where you can find out why your chance of surviving a serious accident was 10% or less. After lunch, we’ll head up to the Eckley Mining Village where the highlights include the luxury accommodations the miners rented, which were about as well insulated as our tents. Cooking will be by patrol and will be a competition. Battle of the budget.
